Julie Yeomans is the Chapter Leader for Fabulous Shoe Night Las Vegas. In addition to enjoying 20+ years in fundraising efforts for charities, she is a proud stay at home mother to two young children and owner of Yeomans Design Group, LLC in Henderson, NV.
There is a new women’s social group in town, and it includes shoes, charity and networking..it’s called Fabulous Shoe Night Las Vegas (www.facebook.com/fabulousshoenight/lasvegas). Women put on their favorite shoes from their closet, and gather once a month for a much needed (and affordable) Girls Night Out here in Las Vegas. A $25 admission at the door includes appetizers, $5 drink specials, and a $15 donation that goes directly to a local Las Vegas Charity chosen for the month. Started in August of 2012, charities have included Project 150 that supports the over 5,000 homeless teens in the valley, and Girls on the Run Las Vegas. Fabulous Shoe Night’s October event will be held at Pink Taco on the patio at the Hard Rock Hotel from 7:30-9:30pm to benefit HomeAid of Southern Nevada. The funds raised with help fund an education center sponsored by Las Vegas Women’s Development Center for low income women and their children.
Fabulous Shoe Night’s Chapter leader, Julie Yeomans, started the Las Vegas chapter with the desire to help the many deserving charities in the Las Vegas Valley that have been hit by a tough economy, and whose services are needed more than ever.
“Fabulous Shoe Night is a vehicle for women to go out and have a great night out, and at the same time do some good in the community”.
So what is the definition of Fabulous Shoes? Yeomans explained “Fabulous Shoes does not assume high end luxury designer shoes. In fact, most shoes from my closet I wear have been knock offs of those shoes, but can also include cowboy boots, flip flops, anything a woman deems fabulous that she loves. That is the biggest misconception, that we sell shoes, or that you need to have fancy shoes to come to our event. Just the opposite. We welcome all women, all shoes. ”
Fabulous Shoe Night originated in Media, Pennsylvania by Jennifer McDevitt (www.fabulousshoenight.com). She started the organization just over a year ago and to date 6 other chapters have been established on the east coast. Las Vegas is the first chapter in this half of the country and the response has been fantastic. Women desire to give back to local charities, especially busy women that may not have the time to do volunteer work specifically. Strength in numbers at events has been a great avenue to donate a significant amount, over $2300 to local charities in the first two events alone. Fabulous Shoe Night’s November event proceeds will benefit Las Vegas Metro Police Department Foundation’s program Santa Cops which helps children in need have a bright Christmas.
